This document outlines the suggested attributes to create an Open Asset ID for different asset types.

Primary Identifier: VIN
Attribute 1: Make
Attribute 2: Model
VIN = vehicle identification number outlined by ISO 3779
Make = the brand name of the vehicle
Model = the model name of the vehicle

Make = the brand name of the trailer

Primary Identifier: IMO
Attribute 1: Year of Build
Attribute 2: Gross Tonnage
IMO = international maritime organization number
Year of Build = the 4 digit year the vessel was built
Gross Tonnage = the volumetric measurement of the enclosed space the vessel (tons)

Civilian and naval vessels
Primary Identifier: CIN
Attribute 1: Year of Build
Attribute 2: Gross Tonnage
CIN = Craft identification number as specified by ISO 10087:2022 (sometimes called HIN)
Year of Build = the 4-digit year the vessel was built
Gross Tonnage = the volumetric measurement of the enclosed space the vessel (tons)

Livestock
Primary Identifier: Livestock Id
Attribute 1: Herd Id / Flock number
Attribute 2: Species
Livestock Id = the tag number, RF ID (radio frequency id) or freeze brand number
Herd Id = the id specified by the UK government agency: APHA for the herd or flock the animal is part of
Species = the species of the animal

Other asset types
This document outlines the attributes that should be needed to create an asset identity. We understand that it will not cover all possible asset types. However, the standard does provide the flexibility to create a standard of any asset type.
